Gaelic Muses is energized by the talents of Michael Mullen: a high-energy fiddler and violinist known for his vibrant stage presence and decades of dynamic performances. As a member of the trio, Michael draws on his “Mad Fiddler” spirit—made famous with Celtic rock band Tempest—and his influential work with The Black Irish Band as well as The Cadillac Boys. His musical journey blends Scottish and Irish traditions with a lively mix of folk, country, swing-jazz, and rock, captivating audiences at every show.
Michael’s path has taken him from early violin lessons in Reedley, California, to featured appearances at renowned festivals such as the Scottish Highland Games, the Dickens Fair, and now with Gaelic Muses at The Yosemite Celtic Festival. Whether collaborating with his bandmates or performing solo as “A Trio of One,” Michael’s love of musical storytelling and skilled looping artistry create immersive, unforgettable shows.
Celebrated as a “fiddle demon” and “virtuoso,” Michael believes true musicianship is all about connecting with listeners—tune well, play with heart, and make every note count. This approach has shaped the legendary sounds of the bands he plays with, and earned him respect across both traditional and innovative music scenes.
